Valentine’s Day was a surprise for me, which is totally Kaptan’s style. Kaptan surprised me in the morning with flowers, chocolate covered strawberries, and some fashion items. Then he started cooking and pulled out a picnic basket! I was starting to catch on to his plan, and I loved it.
Over the weekend I told him that I wanted to keep it simple for Valentine’s Day. I didn’t want to go out to dinner because restaurants usually crowd their dining area with couples and overcharge you for a preset meal.
After I finished getting ready, he loaded the car with our picnic and he drove us to our favorite spot in La Jolla, which surprisingly was completely empty! It was such a beautiful day with great weather.
Since I had an idea of where we were going and what we were doing, I decided to go on the more casual side with all white, pop of red in my scarf, and a purse for Valentine’s Day. I was comfortable, casual, and yet still classy enough to make it a special occasion. (Message me for details on my outfit)
Kaptan set up the picnic and had thought of everything! He packed plates, silverware, napkins, cups, a comfortable blanket and of course great food. He made sandwiches, salad, pasta salad, and bought my favorite naked juice. The sandwiches were roast beef with avocado, cheddar, and veggies on toasted sourdough and whole wheat bread. The salad was just as amazing with strawberries, nuts, mixed greens, peppers, feta cheese, chicken, avocado, hardboiled eggs and tomatoes. The cutest part was he even found these little jars to hold the balsamic vinegar and oil in for our salad.
This was the perfect meal, light, healthy, and so delicious. We enjoyed the amazing weather and sunset then packed up and headed for our workout later that night. It is amazing how similar our daily routine was to our Valentine’s Day. We were sitting at our picnic and already making plans for the next day to come back to that very spot. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful, giving, hardworking man.
